MPs Nsereko, Seninde lead in Kampala, Wakiso

Incumbent MP for Kampala Central Muhammed Nsereko and incumbent Wakiso District Woman MP Rosemary Senninde were leading their contenders in the Parliamentary race, according to preliminary results obtained by Daily Monitor last evening.

Mr Nsereko, formerly of the ruling NRM party but who contested as an Independent candidate, was leading his closest contender, NRM’s Minsa Kabanda, Mr Harold Kaija (FDC), Hamdan Ssemugooma and Moses Kayondo.

Competition was, however, tight between Rubaga South incumbent MP, Mr John Ken Lukyamuzi and former CBS presenter Kato Lubwama.
Mr Allan Ssewanyana on the other hand was in an early lead in the race for Makindye West constituency, with MP Hussein Kyanjo’s son Farouk Kyanjo and Mr Achilles Lubega closing in.
Mr Kyanjo (senior), who joined Parliament in 2006 is serving his second and last term in Parliament.

Mr Nsereko led in polling stations of Mukwano centre, People’s plaza, Superior Complex and National Theatre, followed by NRM’s Kabanda.

Mr Sewanyana got 184 votes at Molly and Paul L-M against Kyanjo’s 32 votes, while at Molly and Paul Q-Z, he scored 186 votes against Kyanjo’s 23. At Molly and Paul’s N-NAL, Mr Sewanyana got 144 votes, while Mr Kyanjo got 23 votes.

In the Kampala District MP seat, the incumbent Ms Naggayi Nabilah led in some constituencies but also faced stiff competition in others from former Kawempe woman councillor, Ms Shifra Lukwago and former Mengo minister for Youth Nakiwala Kiyingi.

While Ms Naggayi led at Ndejje polling centre with 52 votes, People’s Plaza with 92 votes, Nsimbe Kasi 2 zone in Nakawa with 238 votes, Makerere University Business School staff quarters with 105 votes and the main campus with 66 votes, Ms Lukwago beat her in some stations including Superior Complex where she scored 142 votes against her 102.

Ms Seninde won at Nkumba Primary School with 337 votes, St Jude Catholic Church Abayita Ababiri with 326 votes and in Kabale Church Zone with 222 votes.

In Rubaga North, competition was between the incumbent MP Mr Moses Kasibante and Uganda Federal Alliance’s Beti Kamya.
Ms Kamya beat Kasibante in the polling stations of School of the Disabled with 265 votes against his 130 votes. At Ndejje University, Ms Kamya got 56 votes and Kasibante 31.

At Post Office Mengo, Ms Kamya got 96 votes and Kasibante 176.
In Busiro South, former Radio One journalist Simon Njala and DP’s Stephen Ssekigozi, brother to the incumbent MP, Mr Mutebi Balikuddembe were neck and neck.

Provisional results in Katikamu North from 90 out of 115 polling stations stood as follows; Mr Abraham Byandala 16,117, Mr Jasper Muwonge Aligawesa (8,103), Mr Kaddu Mukalazi (2,300), Willy Mayambala (2,133), and Mr Paul Wamala 600.
