Tororo- At least 11 students of Everest College in Luweero District have been taken to St. Anthony Hospital Tororo after sustaining severe injuries in an accident on Malaba road.

The students were travelling in a bus Reg. No. UAY 491Z belonging to Kampala University, Luweero branch.

They were returning from a field tour at Malaba border post.

The officer in charge of traffic police at Tororo Central Police Station, Mr Joel Dongo said the accident occurred on Thursday night.

He said the bus tripped at Ofinya Trading Centre, four kilometres from the Uganda –Kenya border.

Mr Dongo blamed the accident on reckless driving adding that the bus driver, Mr Godfrey Musisi, is detained at Malaba Central Police Station to help them ascertain the cause of the accident.

An eye witness told Daily Monitor that the driver was trying to dodge cargo trucks that were parked on the road awaiting inspection by Uganda Revenue Authority officers in Ofinya trading centre.
