Aggie Konde to leave NTV Uganda

Africa Broadcasting Uganda Limited (ABUL), a Nation Media Group company, has announced the imminent departure of its managing director, Ms Aggie Asiimwe  Konde.

A Thursday statement signed by Mr Joe Muganda, the Group Chief Executive Officer, says Ms Konde will leave the giant media group on September 8, 2017.

Ms Konde who has been at the helm of ABUL for four and a half years, will be replaced by Mr Johnson Omollo as acting head of TV until further notice.   

Mr Muganda said in the statement that Mr Omollo who has been the head of advertising at ABUL has been key to the growth of the business as well as managing multiple projects with development partners and government agencies.

Mr Muganda hailed Ms Konde for being instrumental in building a diversified and profitable portfolio for ABUL over the period she has managed the business.

“She has set new broadcast standards that saw the convention of the 1st ever Presidential debate, premiered the Uganda Economic Summit and the first remake of a telemundo series (Second Chance),’’ Mr Muganda said in the statement.

He said: “She was also instrumental in launching the first ever female channel Spark TV, the first video on demand platform in the region (VIDTV) and a number of quality productions that have redefined televised media  delivery in Uganda.’’

Daily Monitor has leant that Ms Konde has been appointed as the chief executive officer of Msingi, effective October 1, 2017.

Msingi is an independent East African organisation that builds competitive, inclusive and resilient industries in the region by supporting pioneer firms and removing key constraints in an enabling environment.
