Another woman fakes own kidnap, hides in lodge

Police in Kampala have arrested a woman, for faking her kidnap.
Christine Nabasumba, 25, a mobile money agent in Busega, who is said to have just introduced her husband, is behind bars at Nateete police station after Police found her in a guest house at Busega. This happened a day after her family informed police that their daughter had been kidnapped.

Nabasumba’s father, Mr Samuel Byakale who resides in Mityana district, said he had received information that his daughter had been kidnapped on Friday, as she returned from her mobile money kiosk in Busega.
“Her sister in Kampala had told us on Thursday last week that she was receiving phone calls from unknown people who were threatening to kidnap her, and on Friday when she went for work, she didn’t return,” Mr Byakale said.

He added that he later heard from his daughter on Saturday when was telling him that she had been kidnapped. He claims that Nabasumba said that the kidnappers were demanding a Shs10 million ransom or else they would kill her “I immediately called police in Kampala which mounted a search for her.” he narrated.
However, he said they were shocked when Police informed them on May 28 that their daughter was found hiding in a lodge.

Mr Luke Oweyesigire, Police spokesperson Kampala Metropolitan, said she had kidnapped herself
“Police found her in Mpumude guest house located in Busega which is 16 kilometers from her home,” Mr Oweyesigire said, adding that she awaits facing charges of giving false information to the public.

This incidence comes barely a day after Police arrested a woman for faking her own kidnap to see if her spouse loves her.
