Mayuge man cuts off wife’s hand over divorce.

Police is hunting for 32-years old man in Mayuge for allegedly cutting off the hand of his wife for leaving him Joseph Were, a resident of Nakalang B village in Bukatube Sub-County is said to have used a panga to cut off the hand of his wife, Ms Awori Samanya.
Mayuge District Police Commander, Mr Denis Odoki said the suspect attacked Ms Awori in her house that she has since been renting after leaving him.
According to Mr Odoki, the suspect is being hunted and once in custody, a charge of attempted murder will be pressed against him.
Woman arrested over 220,000 debt

Police in Mayuge are holding a 24year old woman for allegedly failing to pay a loan of Shs220,000 she borrowed from a village Savings and Credit Cooperative Organization (SACCO).
Ms Mariam Babirye , a resident of Kayanja village in Malongo sub-county is said to have borrowed this money from Basooka kwavula SACCO but went into hiding after failing to pay back the money.
Mayuge DPC Denis Odoki said the SACCO members reported her to police before she was arrested.
Crime preventer burns in-law’s house for encouraging wife to divorce him

A crime preventer has been arrested by police in Mayuge over alleged arson.
The suspect identified as Tibita Gubira, who is attached to Kayanja police post in Malongo Sub-County is said to have torched his in-law’s house, whom he accused of encouraging his wife, Ms Night Adikini, to divorce him.
Mayuge DPC Denis Odoki said the suspect will be charged with arson and attempt murder.
School director arrested for embezzling PLE candidates’ registration fees

A school director has been arrested by police in Jinja for allegedly embezzling pupils PLE registration fees.
Robert Nnyonyintono the director of Emmanuel Primary School in Njeru Town Council is said to have collected money from seven pupils meant to sit for PLE at his school in November this year but didn’t submit it to UNEB so that the pupils can be registered.
He was arrested on orders of the Jinja Municipal Inspector of Schools, Ms Amina Mutesi, who received the complaints from the pupils.
The suspect while being interrogated asked for forgiveness saying the money was eaten by the school head teacher.
The Kiira region police spokesperson Samson Lubega has confirmed the arrest of the suspect.
