India’s PM Modi to address Ugandan Parliament next week

  • The Speaker also announced that the House will not sit on Tuesday to allow the Clerk and security personnel carryout their work ahead of the Wednesday sitting.
  • Mr Modi will fly into the country on July 24, 2018 and will be hosted by President Museveni at State House Entebbe.

PARLIAMENT: India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address Parliament during his visit to Uganda next week, the Deputy Speaker Jacob Oulanyah has announced.

Mr Oulanyah has been chairing the House sitting this afternoon.
Mr Modi, will address Parliament at 10:00am, on Wednesday July 25, 2018.

The Deputy Speaker said that President Yoweri Museveni will accompany his visiting colleague to Parliament.
He implored lawmakers to turn up early enough ahead of Mr Modi’s arrival at Parliament.

Security provisions

All staff and MPs have been asked by the Deputy Speaker to ensure they drive away on July 23, 2018 so as security can take over the Premises ahead of the Indian Head of State’s visit.

Mr Oulanyah said that on Tuesday July 24, 2018, a day before the impending address, no vehicle will be allowed at Parliament.
