Iron bar hit man remanded for attacking police officer

A man in Kabalagala, a Kampala suburb has been charged and remanded to Lzira prison for allegedly attacking and assaulting a police officer.
Sylvester Semakula 30, appeared before Makindye Chief Magistrates Court in Kampala on Friday for allegedly attacking No 67363 PPC Osbert Tubenawe attached to Kasawe Police Station on the night of June 28, 2018.
It is alleged that Semakula entered Kasawe Police Station, tricked the officers that there was a woman being attacked at a nearby school in need of help, a move aimed at diverting the alertness of officers.

Two officers responded leaving others on guard. However, Semakula allegedly pounced on the officer with an aim of grabbing grab the gun. The officer was however saved by his colleague who was guarding the nearby parking yard.

The officers overpowered the suspect and had the situation under control very quickly.
The suspect was arrested and detained at Kabalagala Police Station vide SD. REF 04/28/06/2018 before being produced in court from where he was remanded to Luzira Upper Prison.
