Angry mourners at the burial of Samuel Ssekiziyivu, a victim of the Mityana shooting, on Monday chased away the Uganda Police Chief Political Commissar, Mr Asan Kasingye, who had also gone for the burial.

Mr Kasingye, who was in the company of the Wamala Regional Police Commander, Mr Phillip Apaye, and other police officers, was not even allowed to sit and be part of the mourners as residents loudly shouted; “We don’t want to see any police officers here since they killed an innocent person.”

Although the former police spokesperson attempted to calm down the charged mourners, they never listened to him.

“Go go go go, we don’t want any police officers here! You killed an innocent man and injured five others. They were not even part of the demonstrators,” the mourners fumed.

Consequently, to avoid any regrettable incident, Mr Kasingye and team majestically turned their backs against the gathering, entered the car and sped off.

Ssekiziyivu was laid to rest at his ancestral home in Lumumba Village, Myanzi Sub-county, Kassanda District. He left behind a widow and three children.
