What you need to know:

  • Excellent. Many of then have maintained their star performance, scoring Aggregate 8 and 9 in the best eight subjects.

Kampala. A number of students who scored aggregate 4,5,6, and 7 in their Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) in 2013, have maintained their star performance, scoring Aggregate 8 and 9 in the best eight subjects in the recently released Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) exams results.
The results that were released on Wednesday indicate that the star performers are from schools in Mukono, Wakiso, Kampala, Masaka, Mbarara, Bushenyi and Mityana districts.
Wakiso and Kampala districts top the list of students with aggregate 8 and 9, with Enock Ssempija, Mahad Male Nsereko, Ernest Kwesiga, and Ernest Wilson Kutesa, scoring aggregate 4 in PLE and aggregate 8 in UCE.
But there were also students, who despite scoring aggregate 6 and 7 in PLE, this time round posted aggregate 8 in the UCE exams. For instance, Tronella Irene Nabachwa, Simon Peter Alumai, Michael Ajuna and Keith Bwowe Junior scored Aggregate 6 in PLE, but have scored Aggregate 8 in UCE exams.
Rogers Byaruhanga, Philip Kansiime, Maria Nassali and Rabbah Kayondo scored Aggregate 7 in PLE, but scored Aggregate 8 in UCE exams.
The results show that majority of these students, who excelled in UCE examinations, have been studying from private schools.
Over the years, private schools have outperformed public schools in national examinations both in PLE, UCE and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education.
