Three dead, 26 injured in Masindi motor accident

Three people died on spot and 26 others were left injured in an accident that happened in Masindi District on Sunday.

According to eye witnesses, a fuso lorry registration number UAT 905Y which was transporting casual labourers failed to brake while at Ntuma village, Bwijanga Sub County along Hoima-Masindi road, thus overturning several times.

The OC traffic Masindi District Mr Eric Sendege said the driver who was speeding lost control and the lorry overturned several times, killing three people and injuring others.

“According to the statement we have recorded from the accident scene, the driver was speeding and the vehicle was overloaded yet he wasn't familiar with the area," Mr Sendege said.

Sendege said the driver only identified as Semakula took off immediately after causing an accident.
“The driver is at large and we are looking for him to answer charges of speeding and reckless driving,” he said.
