Two bodies of fishermen recovered in Masaka

MASAKA- Two bodies of fishermen have been recovered at Dimo Landing Site, Kyesiiga Sub-County in Masaka District.

According to fishermen who operate at the landing site, the deceased were not known since they were not operating from their landing site.

According to Mr Fred Lutaaya, one of the leaders at Dimo Landing Site, the deceased might have been killed from the nearby landing sites.

The bodies were found on unmanned boat that floated up to Dimo Landing Site.

“The bodies were tied with one rope and we found a knife on the boat,” Mr Lutaaya said.
Mr Badru Miiro, another resident said that last week, three bodies were found at the same landing site.

The Officer in Charge of Kyesiiga Police Station, Mr Owen Owesiga said that in a period of two weeks, seven bodies have been recovered at Dimo Landing Site.

“Since the end of June, we have been getting various cases of fishermen dying in water and this could be caused by bad weather which normally occurs in the month of July, Mr Owesiga said.
