Buoyant KCCA resume league chase

KAMPALA.

Reigning champions KCCA can go top of the Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) should they win all their three games in hand on leaders SC Villa.
That is however easier said than done particularly when you look into the Yellow boys’ away form this season.
In eight games played away from their Lugogo home, KCCA have recorded two victories and failed to win at Masavu and Proline.
They are therefore unlikely to find it an easier this afternoon when they travel away to Jinja to play in-form Kirinya-Jinja as the league returns following a two week break.
KCCA coach Mike Mutebi is well aware teams raise their game when they play against the champions as emphasized before they edged out Soana on penalties in the Uganda Cup. “No games are a walk in the park. It’s going to be tough when they play against us because they always give their best,” Mutebi noted.

Six-game unbeaten run
The two teams are separated by just two points with KCCA on 36 while Kirinya have risen to fourth on the back of a six-game unbeaten run.
They have also lost just once in 10 home league games this season and will again rely on the pace of forwards Musa Esenu and Fred Amaku who have scored eight and seven goals respectively. We respect their experienced team but we have not been on a good run in the league by accident
“We are not going to encounter KCCA through wing play but we are going to suffocate their midfield with Bashir Mutanda, Godfrey Akol and George Kasonko. This is going to be an entertainment encounter,” Kirinya-Jinja coach Charles Ayieko prophesized.
He will be without midfielder Anthony Mayanja while on the other hand Mutebi has opted to play the game minus the trio of Allan Okello, Mustafa Kizza and Julius Poloto who are with the national Under-20 team.
