Hellen Koyokoyo Buteme, a qualified strength and conditioning coach as well as a qualified rugby coach, suggests a few simple exercises to do during this festive season.

Jog for 15 minutes
Brisk, (walking fast) for at least 30 minutes. This should be done especially after eating. It helps with digestion and is usually done after lunch and evening hours.

Games
Play games like tennis, volleyball, basketball and even football with family and friends. Since it is a holiday, one can use this time to spend more time with family and friends, and exercise while at it. Some gyms rarely open during the festive times.
She further advices to always get 30 minutes of exercise every day to break the monotony of the usual exercises.

Keeping hydrated
Buteme says drinking enough fluids especially after consuming alcohol or exercising helps one keep in good health.

Pre-work out meal
Do not run on an empty stomach. Eat something and wait for about one to two hours before you do any exercises.

Jesse Kakooza, a dance fitness/ cardial instructor says the festive season is one of the hardest periods to hold back on over-eating. He advises to eat enough food but not more than neccesary.

Balanced diet
Kakooza says if you have fats on one side, put proteins on the other side. In other words, make your plate look healthy. It is advised to have a warm drink after a meal, or lemon tea so that it helps in digesting the food you have eaten.

If you must drink
Having a little to drink can also help burn calories, though it should not be taken in high quantities since continuous hangovers are not good for your health. With every alcoholic drink, one should have a bottle of water on the side.
