What you need to know:

  • The two gaffers will demand the good shows are transformed into results as Warrios host Hippos while Rhinos host Buffaloes.

The Nile Special Stout Rugby Premiership returns this afternoon at four different venues after a 28 days break. Three match days had been dusted before the Christmas break came calling and while some sides were content with where they stood, other will hope the New Year comes with a purple patch.
Hima Heathens, 9 Barrels Warriors, Betway Kobs and Stanbic Pirates in that order lead the standings and all got better with each game they played before the break. They can only hope they keep up with the momentum and only clean up where they fell short. Heathens and Warriors have a clean slate with a point separating them on 13 and 12 points. Kobs and Pirates have both won two and dropped one to garner 10 and nine points respectively.

Plascon Mongers started on a brighter note with a 12-22 win away at Toyota Buffaloes followed by another 11-10 win over Jinja Hippos before Kobs shut them out 12-22 at home. They visit a well drilled side in Heathens today and cannot afford to hide to get something from the game.
Both Hippos and Rimula Rhinos are on five points. They have lost two games and won one apiece but have looked promising under new coaches Robert Seguya and Ivan Markmot.

Picking up results
The two gaffers will demand the good shows are transformed into results as Warrios host Hippos while Rhinos host Buffaloes.
Rams and Impis, the two Makerere centred sides hug each other at the bottom of the table with no wins registered but three losses. Impis coach Emmanuel Katuntu expects a better turn around after the break with limited distractions. “We should get back on track now that the major distractions like exams are out of the way. We also expect to have everyone back,” he said. The reduction in the rains give hope for better playing conditions unlike before the break when different grounds were experiencing mud attacks.
