KAMPALA. The head of Criminal Division of Kampala High court, Justice Wilson Kwesiga has threatened to free Ivan Katongole, the prime suspect in last year’s infamous Entebbe and Nansana women murders.

Justice Kwesiga said Monday that if the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) doesn’t produce witnesses to pin Katongole by December 10 this year, he will have no other option but to release him.

Katongole had appeared to present his second bail application, the first one having been rejected in September this year by Justice Jane Frances Abodo.

When state attorney Rachel Bikhole opposed Katongole’s bail application, Justice Kwesiga demanded to know why his case had not been fixed for hearing since August last year when prosecution said they had finished investigations.

The judge then declined to hear Katongole's bail application and fixed his trial on December 10, 2018, failure of which he said he would release him on bail from Kigo Prison where he was remanded.

Ivan Katongole, a businessman dealing in exportation of fish is jointly charged with Hellen Nabagala and Andrew Kizito for the murder of a one Rose Nakimuli who was a hair dresser at Mpala village. Her decomposing body was discovered in a banana plantation.

The three are currently held at Kigo prison awaiting trial before the High Court.
