This incident comes a few days after another mother, Juliet Naggayi allegedly dumped her nine-year-old son in the swamp on Sunday night.

Naggayi allegedly picked her son (Lukwago) while he was sleeping and threw him in a swamp. He was however rescued by passers-by.

Deputy police spokesperson, Polly Namaye, said Naggayi filed a case of disappearance at Kabumbi police and also informed her husband that the child had gone missing.

However, after being rescued, Lukwago revealed that it was his mother who dumped him in the swamp. The boy explained that he survived drowning because he held himself on the grass.

“The child was discovered at Kabulengwa zone - not far from their home - and he narrated how he managed to escape drowning by holding on to the grass in the swamp. The mother is now under detention as investigations continue,” Ms Namaye said.
