Nkumba University awards Kadaga with Honorary Doctorate of Laws

Nkumba University has awarded the Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga with an Honorary Doctorate of Laws.

"Am so much privileged to be awarded with this Doctorate of Laws by Nkumba University. I conform to probably associate and promote the objectives of this institution," Ms Kadaga said on Saturday during the 22 graduation ceremony.

"If Nkumba was not in place many Ugandans and foreigners would not have had the chance to access university education which started as a small nursery school," she added.

The Vice President Edward Kiwanuka, who was the Guest of Honour at the function, advised graduands to be selfish about peace and security of this country

"Avoid establishing yourselves in politics, be selfish about peace of this country, work hard, use the knowledge acquired here to help you sustain yourself and not to wait for the government’s help," he said.

Among the dignitaries awarded with Honorary Doctorate in different fields, is Alhajji Kaddu Kiberu who was awarded with Doctorate of Letters.

The University awarded degrees of Doctorate, Masters, Bachelors, Diplomas and Certificates to 1367 graduands in various disciplines including, business administration, education humanities and Sciences, nursing and hospitality among others.

The University Chancellor Mr Gordon Wavamunno reminded president Museveni to fulfil his promise he made to the University.

"In 2016, the president promised us a bus but up to now we have never received it. So we kindly remind him about our bus which we are early waiting for," he said.
