Q& A with Joy Mwine Katamba, brand manager, Unilever

Joy Mwine Katamba, brand manager, Unilever.

Ms Joy Mwine Katamba is the brand manager of Unilever brands. She spoke to Smart Money about her roles and responsibilities at the company.
How long have you worked for Uniliver?
I have been with the firm for about one year now.

What does your role as a brand manager involve?
It mainly rotate around marketing and promoting the company’s brands. I make sure that the public get the best of our brands through feedback information and interactive talks with customers.

Unilever recently launched a new product called Knorr, what is it about and what are your plans for the product?
Knorr is Unilever’s number one brand globally and its products are currently sold in more than 80 countries worldwide.

Why the emphasis on cooking Knorr with vegetables?
Vegetables have been selected as the main dish for the knorr beef cubes campaign because traditionally mothers here struggle to ensure that their families eat vegetables due to their supposedly unpleasant taste and yet it is highly recommended and proven that they ensure optimal nutrition when a part of our diet. Knorr adds a natural beefy delicious taste and aroma to vegetables, making them tasty good and more fun to eat!

What makes Knorr unique?
Knorr is from Unilever’s savoury category together with other brands such as Royco and Blueband. We believe that good food matters.

How do you intend to market Knorr to Ugandans?
We will be heavy on media. We plan to have road shows for customers to have test samples and have the brand experience, as well as listing drives for the trade.
