Pray for your husband’s mistress, not fight them
What you need to know:
- Doreen took off a week to fast and pray. We thought she was on a certain kind of diet but she later shared that she was praying for her husband’s mistress.
- I have never understood why most of us think frustrating your hubby’s mistress, calling her all kinds of names and pulling her hair is the only way to get rid of her.
I know the Bible commands us to be thankful to God in all circumstances, how I may not advise you to play hypocrite and thank Him for your husband’s mistress because truthfully, your life is better off without her in the picture. But fighting her or hiring Kalondozi will not be the best solution either. I have never understood why most of us think frustrating your hubby’s mistress, calling her all kinds of names and pulling her hair is the only way to get rid of her. None of that will avert the damage caused and neither will it miraculously turn her attraction to your husband into hatred.
It is not easy for someone to fall out of love, even when they love the wrong person. A mistress is a challenge that might drive you crazy or even destroy your marriage if you put up the wrong fight.
Silence is not the best weapon like many have advised you. Many people will interpret silence for stupidity or weakness. But playing Golola on your hubby’s mistress might land you in jail or get you a slot on a tabloid’s cover page. If the tabloids are busy, you might not escape the social media boo on Mama Tendo platforms where lonely women run for counselling only to be turned into emotional rags.
Doreen took off a week to fast and pray. We thought she was on a certain kind of diet but she later shared that she was praying for her husband’s mistress. This woman was working with her husband and concerned workmates had sent Doreen a few photos or texts that sparked off the ‘fighter’ in her. As she lay awake for almost a week, her mind took her through a series of ways to end this relationship. Should she attack the woman? get her fired or invite her over for a woman-to-woman talk.
She contacted Senga Google, and landed on a Christian and modest way of fighting a co-wife - through prayer. She frowned at the idea but gave it a try anyway.
Doreen fasted and prayed for a week. The first day she just cried, she had no idea what to tell God. The second day, she was furious with God, how could He let it happen. The third day she prayed for all the cruel things to happen to Anna* but she felt like a witch afterwards and on the fourth day she just lay there, mute. She did not know what to tell or ask God. It’s on the fifth day that she surprisingly prayed.
Doreen prayed that Anna* falls deeply in love with another man, that she forgets her husband. If that doesn’t happen, May God miraculously bring a juicy job offer abroad or far away so that Anna will get out of her husband’s face. She also prayed that Anna starts despising Doreen’s husband or vice versa so that they hate each other. The most interesting one was when she prayed for her husband to start getting nightmares about Anna chasing him in a big, dark forest, screaming at him and swearing to kill him. She laughed about this but when her husband woke up one night, she realised he was sweating and panting as though he was from a race. He held her tightly, and amidst sobs, he whispered the magical words.
“I love you Doreen, and I am sorry. Please don’t ever leave me.”
“What’s going on?” she asked.
“I think I got a bad dream,” he replied.
Men rarely admit that they are wrong but who would dare despise the power of prayer. After a few weeks, Anna asked to be transferred to Nairobi.
Prayer works, I believe for sure. There are things you can’t fight with your own strength or ability but when you involve God, they work out pretty well. So avoid being the topic of discussion in the neighbourhood because you fought your sexy neighbour. Get on your knees and let God do the fighting.
