A getaway at the Water Front

What you need to know:

Beautiful and serene is an apt description of this piece of sand, green and blue at the lake shore. A perfect getaway from the city.

If you would like to spend some time away from the hustle and bustle of Kampala city, the Water Front Beach in Entebbe might be an option.

The beach is located on the lakeside part of Entebbe and is just about 15 minutes from the Entebbe International Airport.

It has a beautiful setting and it is close to Golf Course and the Botanical Gardens, which also attracts many people to the beach for a cool breeze from the lake. Those with the passion of camping and enjoying nature walks or the sporty types, will find something to enjoy here.

In addition, at Water Front Beach, there is a long pier where boats dock and a long stretch of sand on the lake shore. This not only offers photo opportunities but also another way for relaxation.

Hospitality from the waiters and waitress tops it up in either the general seating or VIP areas. The two well-stocked bars offer a wide range of international and Ugandan brands of wines, spirits, beers and sodas.

For the eats, there is the grass-thatched restaurant; or you can opt to enjoy the open-air gardens.

As one enjoys the eats and drinks, the Fusion band holds a live performance. This starts off at 6pm to midnight every weekend and features a number of popular artistes.

Iryn Namubiru, Bobi Wine, Shamim and Phina Masanyalaze are some of those who perform or have performed there.

The band is composed of 23 members whose performances done in English, Kiswahili, Lingala and in a number of local languages.

There a number of boats; one of them dubbed ‘banana boat’ that offers a package of boat cruises with music, drinks and eats for group category, sunset, romantic cruises, fish trips and island transfers to Sanga Beach, Bulago and Ngamba Island.

Water Front’s managing director, Tom Bright Amooti says, the beach environ is best for corporate meetings, trade shows, conventions, retreats, family reunions, romantic getaways, weddings or any special occasion.
