Bosmic Otim is 2014’s Best Northern Artiste

Gulu revellers ushered in the New Year at 13th annual Northern Artiste of the Year Music Awards organised by Jams Production at Blue Mango Bar and Grill in Gulu town.

Over 20 artistes were nominated in different music categories with cash prizes tagged to the winners in each of the categories.

Performances from northern stars like Obol Simple Man, Tamnoffy, Davi Dogo, Polite Mosko, Big Nyeros and Lucky Joyce Bosmic Otim among others sent the mammoth crowds in excitement.
By 2am, voting forms were distributed to the revellers to vote for their favourite artistes, while a group of independent election committees were hired to ensure accuracy of vote tallying.

At 4am, Bosmic Otim (pictured), was announced by the event MC, as the Best Male Northern Artiste of the year and he received a cash prize of Shs1m, while Maria A, won the Best Female Artiste category taking home Shs500,000. However, Janet Prisca who came in the female category caused scuffles on the podium as she refused to accept defeat, saying the event organisers had cheated her.

Other winners included Invincible for New Artiste of the Year, Polite Mosko for the Best Dancehall, Judas for the Best Hip Hop, Romeo for the Best Gospel and City Boy for best Lakubukubu (Traditional dance). Okeng Boy was voted as the best Comic Artiste while Victor J and Nocky were voted as Best Duo. Each of them received cash prizes of Shs 300,000.

MC Juma Okot aka Juma Jamie, the organiser of the event said the aim of organising the concert was to explore the talents among artistes in the region and also to motivate them to produce quality music.
