King of hearts: Lloyd is back with a bang

King of hearts is the fourth studio album by R&B American music sensation Lloyd, released under the Interscope/ zone 4 labels. Most of the production is credited to reputable producer Polow Da Don, who also happens to be the zone 4 head, the label that Lloyd recently signed to after leaving INC. records citing creative differences.

The album debuted at number 10 on the billboard’s hot 200, selling about 26,000 copies in its first week, and generally received favourable reviews from other critics.

No artist has been able to establish themselves as an ultimate R&B maestro as michael Jackson did in the 80s and early 90s. The likes of usher, Chris Brown, and Trey Songz have been at the forefront in the last few years, but with this album, Lloyd makes a strong case for no.1 contender.

To put it simply, this album is really something to be excited about. The album features an all-star cast from Andre 3000, Lil Wayne, young Jeezy, Trey Songz to mention just a few. This compilation signals Lloyd’s transition from a teenage singing wonder kid to fully grown music force to be reckoned with.

The Album kicks off with Dedication to my ex featuring lil Wayne and Andre 3000. This mid-tempo, blues fashioned song is about a promiscuous woman who gives her love away to another man. Lloyd uses rather profane imagery referring to her privates to put his disappointment into perspective. The album contains several stand out songs songs.

It is surely evident that a lot of time and effort was put into putting this gem of an album together. The picks of the lot on this album are “angel”, a beautifully crafted love ballad comparing his lover to the heavenly life forms.

The sounds
It maybe a cliché, but the song is pleasant to listen to. This is my baby is surely a well written and lovely song that will get anyone with feelings into a romantic mood. Be the one, shake it 4 daddy, and luv me girl are sure to set the club scene on fire and make you feel like busting a move.

My favourite song never window shopping sounds so good it will surely end up on your favourite playlist.
Generally, from the very first song to the conclusion of this album, you are guaranteed a worthwhile music listening experience.

Clearly his best work yet, this epic art form is sure to leave you on a high, with its excellent production, Lloyd’s outstanding vocal prowess and witty well thought out lyrics. Definitely, it is one of the best R&B albums of the year. Lloyd surely wins over my heart with this endeavour.
