A snack: Holiday season mini pizzas
Pizzas are quite easy to make and are a real treat for the whole family! Instead of making large pizzas, go in for smaller, mini pizzas, so that you can make many and there is enough to go around.
A vegetable topping has been chosen for this recipe, but this can be modified to include small pieces of cooked beef, chicken, ham, salami or sausage slices.
The amount of vegetables you will use in your toppings, will depend on the size of the pizza you make, but they should generally be enough to cover the base of the pizza. The pizza base should not be rolled out too thick, it should be fairly thin so that it is crispy when baked.
Method
1. Grease some flat baking trays with a little margarine.
2. Sieve the flours in a large bowl and mix well. Rub in the margarine with your fingers until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs. Stir in 180g of grated cheese and 1½ level teaspoon of celery salt. Mix well.
3. Add enough milk to form dough that is soft, but not sticky. Divide the dough into the desired number of portions and roll out into fairly thin circles.
4. Put some fresh tomatoes in hot water for a few minutes and then peel off the skin. Mix with some tomato paste and a little garlic powder and spread the tomato sauce over the base of each pizza.
Top with sliced mushrooms, green pepper strips, slices carrots and tomato slices. Sprinkle with finely chopped celery stalks and finely slices spring onions.
5. Finally sprinkle generously with grated cheese and a little Aromat. Use Aromat sparingly as it is very salty.
6. Put the pizzas on the greased baking trays.
7. Heat the oven to 230C/ 450F/gas mark 8, for 15 minutes before baking for20 – 25 mins. Serve hot.
