Home-made wall accessories

Ever walked around town moving from one shop to another looking for wall decor and failed to find something?
Then postponed the exercise for another day in the hope that they would have restocked and still been unsuccessful!
It’s the same old story....picture frames of flowers (that don’t even grow in our country), art pieces of stick people carrying baskets or babies, pictures of houses in beautiful meadows in countries you have no clue about...it’s like nothing really reflects you, your personality...well, here are a few tricks that you can play on your space!

Photos: Take close up pictures of yours or loved ones favourite body parts i.e. eyes, lips, hands and have them printed out in monochrome or black and white then frame. These would make an interesting collage of mystery on your wall.

Favourite China: You know when you buy a beautiful set of plates and over time you find you are left with just one surviving plate? The one that only comes out on when you are celebrating a victory or perhaps through your travels you have collected a few oddly shaped plates and stashed them in the corner of your wall unit, what better way to show them off than to have them hanging on your wall! They represent beautiful memories whilst working as decor.

Hats: Some of you have loves or passions that are taking you to levels of being hoarders. E.g you may have a whole range of hats; flat caps, berets, cowboy hats, straw hats or baseball caps...

If you are so reluctant to part with your hat collection why not turn it into a master piece! It could be a tie collection all you have to do is put a piece of stiff in each one to give them stability then hang either according to colour or size and voila!

Books: For those of you who love reading and have over time collected some precious books. Instead of jamming them all up in a bookshelf, have some floating shelves made and arranged in an organised random pattern on the wall and display.

Floating shelves are shelves that have no visible support they appear to float on the wall hanging by themselves as if extending directly out of the wall.

Candles: What better way to display your stock of scented candles of various shapes, colours and sizes and flavours than on a feature wall? These can be used while on display as well.
