Dawn of The Light

NAFHA MAANI EBRAHIMI.

What you need to know:

For Humanity. This year, millions of Baha’is around the world, and their friends, celebrate the Bicentenary of the Birth of The Bab , writes NAFHA MAANI EBRAHIMI.

On the night of 22-23 May 1844, a young merchant from the city of Shiraz in Iran, by the name of The Bab (meaning the Gate), announced that he was the bearer of a Divine Revelation, the fulfilment of prophecies of all religions, preparing the world for the coming of The Promised One. Such Revelation was set to transform the spiritual life of all humanity.

The years that followed this announcement in a very conservative land, led to the prosecution and execution of The Bab and thousands of his followers in most horrific ways, however, the mission that The Bab came for was accomplished, and the Promised One he prepared people for (Baha’u’llah, The Glory of God) appeared, hence the dawn of a new day, and a religion that will take, the now mature humanity into a century of light, the Baha’i Faith.

This year, millions of Baha’is around the world, and their friends, celebrate the Bicentenary of the Birth of The Bab who was born exactly 200 years ago. These celebrations, while holding a spiritual meaning, also embrace a lot of social services and projects that help communities around the world to develop.

What makes these two manifestations and their missions unique, is that both emphasise that humanity is on the brink of maturity, this maturity that is the fruition of thousands of years of Divine Revelations. With all the degeneration, atrocities, wars and prejudices that our societies are experiencing today, such maturity might not be perceived as possible. However, with the help of the Divine Teacher, humanity will finally take charge of its own destiny, away from corruption of mind and soul by clergy, blind imitation of what the generations before followed and other influences. Self-discipline and purity of heart can bypass any formula that is set even by religions, bringing out the true human nature that was created pure and detached.

When words are translated into deeds, and reflections becomes actions, only then will humanity rise above its differences and look for means to help each other, every day brings a new challenge, and every challenge brings about a new learning, and every learning is a step towards our maturity.
For this auspicious occasion, a special short movie titled Dawn of The Light has been released by the Baha’i World Center, it can be watched online. It is a beautiful journey through the Baha’i communities around the world.
