Nantongo: From a hairdressing trainer, to a wonder vocalist

Carol Nantongo

The first thing I do in the morning……
I take a glass of water.

And when I get to work…
I take a moment to meditate on how the day will go and reflect on what needs to get done.

My earliest childhood memory…
The first time I got to attended class and played with my friends in kindergarten. I remember being carefree and excited.

My first best friend…
I never had a best friend until I met Donah Mbaziira at Golden Band who was also an artiste.

What about your first boyfriend?
Haahaa! Let us leave that aside.

Why?
It is confidential.

My worst memory is…
When my mother was ill and I had to nurse her. This left me inadequate time to prepare for my final O-Level exams.

About my first salary…
Uganda Youth Development Link paid me around Shs250,000.

My current job…
I am a musician under KT Events in Golden Band.

What I like about my job…
At my workplace, everyone shares the same vision and mission. This truly creates a family environment where everybody is there for each other.

What you dislike about the job?
In the entertainment industry, it is hard to have some privacy. One may almost not hang out with their friends. At times you are forced to live a life to please your fans.

Biggest regret…
I accept the past with no regrets and handle the present with confidence and then face the future with no fear.

Best advice I have ever received…
Mr Musa Kavuma, Events Promoter at KT told me to work hard and believe in myself. All my efforts revive from that advice.

Talking about my first song…
My first song was Nsika written by Micheal Judas.

Best gift…
An iPhone from someone who means a lot to me.

My childhood hero…
My hero was and still will always be my mother because she took care of six children single-handedly. She has been there through thick and thin for us.

My role model…
Iryn Namubiru and Grace Nakimera inspired me to join the music industry because of their unique vocals.

Health tip…
I do not take sugar and I drink some water at least 30 minutes before meals.

Best food…
Rice and beans.

Best moment in music industry…
My best moment in the music career was the day I went for a concert in Masaka and my fans showed me so much love. It was such unforgettable moment.
