Body of unidentified woman dumped in Entebbe resident’s home
Residents of Busambaga Village in Katabi town council in Wakiso District have been left in shock after a body of an unidentified woman in her early 20s was found dumped in a compound of one Rose Namutebi.
"The body was discovered by a girl who was sweeping the compound on Monday morning,” said Mr Fred Mugerwa, the in charge security on the area local council committee.
He added that the half-naked body had bruises.
“She was only left with a blouse. The other body parts were naked, exposing several scratches," he added.
Some residents said they had spotted her in one of the bars in the area on Sunday.
She was suspected to have been killed from somewhere else before her body was dumped in Namutebi’s compound.
“When you look at the scene, nothing shows that there was a fight which implies that she might have been killed from somewhere else and her body brought here. We ven don’t know her,” one of the residents said.
Kampala metropolitan deputy spokesperson, Mr Luke Owoyesigyire said detectives visited the scene and took the body to Mulago hospital mortuary for autopsy as investigations continue.
The case was recorded as suspected murder file number CRB 042/2019.
The incident happened four days after High Court in Kampala acquitted three people, including a businessman, who had been accused of murder following 2017’s infamous Entebbe and Nansana women killings.
Justice Wilson Kwesiga freed the suspects on grounds that all the seven prosecution witnesses presented in court didn’t give substantial evidence linking the suspects to murder. The judge further noted that the case had wasted state resources and court’s time because police had done a ‘poor job.’
