Bryan White case file goes missing

What you need to know:

  • Prosecution states that Kirumira, 32, a businessman and resident of Munyonyo-Buziga in Makindye Division, Kampala, and Okot, 28, a police officer attached to Crime Intelligence Headquarters in Kampala, a resident of Mulago Zone, Kawempe Division on December 13, 2017 in Munyonyo attempted to murder Bitwire.

The trial of city socialite Brian Kirumira alias Bryan White for alleged attempted murder failed to proceed today (Monday) before Makindye Chief Magistrate’s Court.

At the last court appearance, the trial magistrate Mr Elias Kakooza had set March 5 for the hearing of prosecution evidence but the police file was not sent to court.

State prosecutor Ms Happiness Ainebyona told the court that they were unable to proceed with the case due to the absence of the principal witness.

At the previous court session, Ms Ainebyona told court that the prosecution witness was unable to testify despite completion of the investigations.

Mr Kirumira who is out on bail is jointly charged with his bodyguard Cpl Thomas Okoth.

He was ordered to deposit his passport in court and not to travel abroad until the case is concluded.

They are both charged with attempting to kill his neighbour, one Victor Bitwire. The duo denies the charges.

The court adjourned the case to April 9 for the witness to testify.
