Gone. George Wilson Kadaga Madali, 85, died of diabetes on Monday at Nakasero Hospital, where he had been bedridden.

George Wilson Kadaga Madali, the father of the Speaker of Parliament, Ms Rebecca Kadaga, has died.

Madali, 85, reportedly died of diabetes on Monday at Nakasero Hospital, where he had been bedridden.

News of his death was received with shock and grief in Kamuli District.

Grief
Retired Bishop of Busoga Diocese Cyprian Bamwoze, who broke down after learning about Madali’s death, said he missed his wedding anniversary scheduled for today.

“Wilson believed in himself and his God and was set to hand over St. Mathew Kiige Church which he has been building in Kiige in January. He sought education for himself and others and remains a keen educationist and
parenting role model,” Bishop Bamwoze said.

Dr David Kantale Kazungu, a close friend of Madali, said he was devastated.

He described the deceased as a hard working and humble man, who obeyed Christian values.

“George lived a cat’s nine lives as an inspiring man promoting education and family bondage as core values in society. It is all devastating,” Mr Kazungu said.

A family source said the Speaker had gone to the Vatican, adding that burial arrangements were being handled by the government and Madali’s Igaga clan, where he served as a vice chairperson.
A date for the burial has not yet been set.
