NTUNGAMO- South Ankole Diocese bishop Nathan Ahimbisibwe has cautioned the unmarried on getting excited and rushing into marriage.

He said rushing is one of the major causes of marriage break-ups.

“I know there are so many challenges, including poverty and lack of resources to organise parties and get married, there is fear and choices are also limited; others misconceive marriage but it’s a good institution. But we need not to rush for it when we are not fully ready, that results in breakups, many marriages today do not last long,” Bishop Ahimbisibwe said.

He was speaking at the wedding reception of Mr Dastan and Ms Janet Rwahamuheru at Trek Savannah Gardens in Ntungamo town on Saturday.

Ntungamo Mayor Jacob Kafureka said a very big number of marriages in Uganda is unregistered and the church needed to play a serious role in sensitising people to wed.

Mothers Union President for South Ankole Diocese Lillian Ahimbisibwe said the church is beginning a project of searching for men who are failing to turn up for church activities.

She said the project dubbed “Where are the men” begins with the Mothers’ Union conference to be held at Muntuyera High School Kitunga starting on September 16, with women brainstorming on how men can be brought back to church.
