President Museveni addressing a rally

ISINGIRO- President Museveni yesterday said every Ugandan will earn Shs 3.5m annually or Shs290,000 monthly when the country attains a middle income status, the government’s 2020 vision.

Mr Museveni said this wil be achieved through increasing funding to agriculture that employs majority Ugandans and investing more in Operation Wealth Creation programme.

He said Shs1 trillion will be injected in the Operation Wealth Programme up from Shs 361b allocated this financial year.
The President was speaking at World Population Day National celebrations at Isingiro District headquarters yesterday.
The celebrations were held under the theme: “Harness Ugandan’s Demographic Dividend; Invest in Teenage Girls.”

Mr Museveni said government started with investing in peace, followed by immunisation, education of children, and later water, roads and electricity which, he said, are responsible for the growth of the population from 16.7 million in 1991 to 34.6 million in 2014 and 38 million people currently.
“I request people of Isingiro, and Ugandans in general, to embrace this struggle of total monetisation of the economy,” he said.
