Fire guts another Makerere building

KAMPALA. Fire has this evening gutted Makerere University registry office, police have confirmed.

The Kampala Metropolitan spokesperson, Mr Luke Owoyesigire, said that there was another fire at Makerere university, but was dealt with by the people around.

"There was a fire at about 7:30pm but it was contained by the staff around. I don't have enough details about the cause but we shall feed you with details early morning tomorrow," Mr Owoyesigire said.

This fire comes after another fire outbreak at Makerere University Business School's Bahesi hostel that left multimillion property damaged.
Another fire gutted one of Makerere University ladies’ hall, Marry Stewart on Sunday.

Police have linked all these fire out-breaks to short circuits.

Makerere University senior Public Relations Officer, Ritah Namisango said she was not on ground at the time of the fire outbreak but some sources she spoke to said the fire was caused by a short circuit.

"I have confirmed that there was a fire outbreak, but it didn't do any damage and by the time police arrived, the staff around had put it out," Ms Namisango said.
