Fire has gutted Victoria Nile Primary School in Jinja Municipality leaving property worth millions of shillings destroyed.

Police say the fire started from a staff house where a short circuit is suspected to have occurred and spread to the main hall.

The Kiira region police spokesperson Samson Lubega said police fire brigade arrived at the scene to prevent the fire from spreading to other buildings although the staff house had been completely consumed by fire.
‘’It is true, there was a fire at the school today and a staff house was destroyed with all the property inside but the main hall was saved by police that put off the fire,’’ Lubega said.

He said the cause of the fire is not yet clear to the police.
Lubega said no person was injured during this fire that started at about mid-day.

According to recent results, Victoria Nile Primary School is one of the best performing UPE School in Jinja District.
