Four people perish in Fort Portal-Bundibugyo road accident

Four perish in Fort Portal-Bundibugyo road accident
At least four people have been confirmed dead from a May 21 evening road accident along fort portal-Bundibugyo road.
The accident occurred in Natandi town council at around 4pm.
The deceased have been identified as Grace Kobusinge, Kabasinguzi Kelvin, Kyamunye Asaba and Medrine Muhindo
According to the accident eye witness Mugisha Bamaga, ‘‘the driver of a speeding taxi registration number UBH 654J- lost control at Bumaga tourism site and knocked five people who were by the road side.’’
The taxi was travelling from Fort portal and headed towards Bundibugyo district.
Two people died on spot while other two people died while being taken to Bundibugyo hospital.
Bundibugyo District Police Commander (DPC) Mr Aggrey Okumu confirmed the incident and said police are still investigating the cause of the accident but their Preliminary investigations indicate that the driver was over-speeding.
‘‘The unknown driver is still on the run and most of the passengers suffered minor injuries. They are currently admitted at Bundibugyo main hospital,’’ Mr Okumu said.
The incident comes just over two days after another accident claimed three lives at Bundikahungu, Nyahuka town council, Bundibugyo district.
