BUKEDEA:

The State Minister for Ethics and Integrity, Fr Simon Lokodo has ordered the Bukedea district chairperson to return one of the heifers he took meant for the vulnerable people during the recent heifer distribution by Operation Wealth Creation.
Fr Simon Lokodo said it is unfair for the district chairperson, Moses Olemukan at his position to grab a heifer meant to uplift the poor from destitution in Bukedea Sub County.
"It’s shameful for you the district chairperson to own the government property which is meant to change the lives of the poor, you as the chairperson can buy yours, please bring the cow back’,’ the minister said.
Mr Lokodo made the remarks during a district stakeholders' meeting on Friday, in which the LC5, Mr Moses Olemukan came under relentless scorn from the RDC, Hajji Ramazathan Walugembe and the LC3 Chairperson for Bukedea Sub County, over alleged interference in OWC programme in the district.
He said it is wrong for the wealthy politicians, civil servants to grab items from government projects destined for the common man.
Hajji Ramazathan Walugembe, RDC Bukedea said when he received information that one of the heifers was grabbed by the LC5 chairperson; he failed to concentrate on his day's work, because the programme is meant for the poor.

“It’s in this line, that I request my district chairperson to stop such kind of interference in this programme," he reiterated.
Mr Johnson Emong Otinga LC3 chairperson Bukedea Sub County, said of the heifers that were delivered to his sub county, one went missing and on inquiry it was established that it was picked by the district chairperson.
"When I made consultation with the sub county technical persons, they said they were under strict directive to pass the heifer to the district chairperson,” he explained.
Mr Moses Olemukan LC5 chairperson said there is no law that prohibits him from being one of the beneficiaries of government projects.
"This is selfishness exhibited by the LC3 chairperson but now that I am the beneficiary they are complaining, but I also need to benefit," Mr Olemukan said.
