HOIMA- Hoima Catholic Diocese Bishop Vincent Kirabo has ordained 15 deacons into priesthood. This was the first ordination Bishop Kirabo has presided over since his enthronement early this year. He also ordained 11 seminarians as deacons.

Speaking after performing ordination rituals last Saturday, Bishop Kirabo urged the new priests to be good servants.
“We are proud of you and thank God for what he has done for us. Jesus has chosen you, serve him wholeheartedly and be good priests,” Bishop Kirabo said.

He also granted the newly ordained priests powers to administer to the faithful the sacrament of reconciliation in accordance with the church laws and the diocesan customs, before deploying them to different parishes in Hoima Catholic Diocese.

The Vicar Bujumbura Cathedral, Msgr Mathias Nyakatura, said the newly ordained priests will boost the church army in its struggle against Satan in the region.
“We now have 15 new commanders, this is a very big achievement,” he said.

The representative of the newly-ordained priests, the Rev Fr Leonard Sanyu, thanked God for the gift of priesthood. He attributed their success to commitment of their parents whom he said have done a lot to make them what they are.

“We pledge to serve God throughout our life,” he said.
The Hoima Municipality MP, Dr Lawrence Bategeka, asked the Catholic Church to partner with the State in the fight against evil acts, especially corruption.
