Lawyer charged over theft of client’s Shs765m
What you need to know:
- On the count of obtaining money by false pretence, it is alleged that the duo between January and April 2019 obtained Shs46m from one Mathew Nyombi pretending that they were facilitating the auction process.
Bugunda Road Chief Magistrates Court will on October 23, start hearing the matter in which a lawyer is accused of stealing a client's money totalling Shs765m.
Mr Zack Olowo, 38, a lawyer, is charged with three counts which include; theft and obtaining money by false pretence.
Magistrate Stella Maris Amabilis, set the hearing date after the prosecutor, Ms Barbra Kyomugisha, submitting that investigations into the matter are complete.
Mr Olowo is facing these charges alongside one Ismail, 30, a court bailiff.
Prosecution contends that the duo between March and April, 2019 while at Good Shade Yard Uganda Railway Corporation in Kampala sold 236 containers of 20ft worth Shs719m and three cars worth Shs46m the property of Muru Contractor Limited and used the money at their will.
