KAMPALA. Police have found bodies of a mother and her three months-old baby dumped in a swamp in Kazinga, Nsangi Sub-County, Wakiso District.
Police say they found Fatuma Nakitende’s body with several wounds around the neck and it had been burnt. However, the body of the baby had no injuries.
Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesman, Mr Luke Owoyesigire, said they suspect the killings were carried out by Nakitende’s husband.
“The deceased’s husband Ismael Kinobi, 42, fled to Butambala District where he also committed suicide using poison,” Mr Owoyesigire said.
The discovery of the bodies caused panic among the residents of Nsangi. The residents thought that a wave of women killings that has left Nansana Municipality and Entebbe in Wakiso District in panic had reached their area.
Mr Owoyesigire said neighbours of the deceased told detectives that the suspect was a drug pusher.
“They told us that the suspect and his wife had domestic wrangles. So we suspect it was the motive of the killings,” he said.
