Police are investigating a case in which a 38-year-old man was allegedly killed in a fight over a widow in the western district of Rukungiri.
James Rweitaemazi, a resident of Kikunyu cell, Nyakitabire parish, Ruhinda Sub County was killed Saturday night after he found another man in the house of a woman he was dating.
The District Police Commander, Moses Nanoka, said the woman who lost her husband last year was dating two men who coincidentally found each other in her house and started fighting.

“This woman had two men who never knew each other. They’re all from the same area. Last night when one was sleeping in the woman’s house, the second one came in. They started quarrelling before it deteriorated into a fight,” the DPC told this reporter on Sunday.

According to Mr Nanoka, one of the men, he identified as William Owakubariho, 40, beat Rweitaemazi before burning him to death using a mosquito net.
He said Owakubariho and one Owomugisha Consolant, 38, were arrested and detained.

The Kikunyu cell chairperson, Mr Silvestre Tindarwesire said Owomugisha has had many lovers ever since her husband died.
“We have been seeing men come in and out of her house and so when I got a call in the morning that someone had been killed at her home, I wasn’t surprised. Her love life has been the talk of our area ever since her husband died,” he said.
