KWEEN: Police in Kween district have arrested a 28 year-old-man for allegedly stabbing to death his friend, accusing him of having an affair with his wife.

A witness told police that the two men were each claiming to be the woman’s legitimate partner and that one of them accused the other of snatching the woman.

The deceased, Vincent Chemitai, 20, a boda boda rider in Kween town was killed on his way home from work. It’s reported that the suspect waylaid the deceased and stabbed him several times.

The Sipi region police spokesperson, Mr Rogers Taitika identified the suspect as Chebet Cheshewa, 28 a resident of Kaplawo village, Ngenge Sub County in Kween district.

“We have arrested a man for killing his friend. Our preliminary investigations indicate that the fight which ended tragically was over a woman,” said Mr Taitika.

He said the incident happened on Friday at 10pm at Kawokwanyi Village, Ngenge Sub County in Kween.

Taitika said the suspect stabbed the deceased on the back and in the ribs several times using a kitchen knife. Daily Monitor understands that police recovered the knife said to have been used in the killing.

Mr Taitika told Daily Monitor that the detectives had questioned a woman said to have been at the centre of controversy between the two men. Police withheld the woman’s name not to jeopardise the investigation since she is a key witness.

The suspect was being held at Kween central police station where detectives planned to prefer murder charge against him after police investigations.
