Mbabazi's father-in-law, Rev Canon Gershom Ruhindi is dead

Former Prime Minister, Amama Mbabazi’s father-in-law, Rev Canon Gershom Ruhindi has died.

According to family members, the 103-year-old Ruhindi died on Thursday at about 2:45am from his home in Nyakisoroza Village, in Kacence Parish, Nyakishenyi Sub County in Rukungiri District.

The a section of Christians in Kigezi sub region have praised the deceased Rev Canon Geresom Ruhindi for his dedicated love to serve the church and preaching the word of God besides being a hard working church leader who promoted the education of girl child in the region.

Rev Canon Ruhindi is survived by one wife, Everina Ruhindi whom he married in 1947, nine girls and several grandchildren.
His first-born, Ms Joy Zatwoshaho said her father was never sick until he died on Wednesday night at the age of 102.
“It is just old age that took his life. We shall always celebrate his life and the achievements he made while serving the church and helping us to grow into responsible Ugandans,” Ms Zatwoshaho said.

Ms Zatwoshaho said her father had been nicknamed as Rwamungwe Kyamazima because of his frankness while others had bestowed on him the title of professor because he loved reading books and advocating for education.
“We called him Omwami because of his leadership styles while others called him Kundura because of his love to complete assignments on his table,” she told this reporter.
Mr James Zatwoshaho, the first in-law in the family of Rev. Canon Ruhindi said he was an amazing parent who loved all his children, caring father, hardworking, truthful and advocated for self-reliance.
“He had good health and you never found him sickly. He was always very strong and if not old age is he would still be alive. We shall always miss his parental advice. May God rest his soul in peace,” Mr Zatwoshaho said.
