Missing state prosecutor found alive, reunited with family

KAMPALA. A senior prosecutor in the office of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP), who had been missing for about two and a half months, has been found alive.

According to a press statement from the DPP’s office Ms Fatuma Sendagire Nabiwemba was found on Tuesday before and reunited with her family.

However, the statement said they were not at liberty to share any more information about her at this material time.
“The office of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions wishes to inform the media and the general public that Ms Fatuma Sendagire Nabiwemba (Principal State Attorney and deputy head of department-Inspections and Quality Assurance) has been found,” reads in part the statement authored by the DPP spokesperson, Jane Okuo Kajuga.

Ms Kajuga further said: “She is alive and well and is reunited with her family. We are not at liberty to share any further information at this material time as investigations continue. We however, call for respect of the privacy of Fatuma and her family during this sensitive time to allow for her recovery from the traumatic experience of her disappearance,”
Ms Sendagire disappeared on December 12, 2017 from her matrimonial home in Wapewo, Gayaza.

Her husband, Dr Ibrahim Sendagire, in an interview with the Daily Monitor, said he suspected the mysterious disappearance of his wife was as a result of her failure to come to terms with the death of their two and a half months-old-baby. He further suspected his wife to have suffered from post-natal depression.
At the time of her disappearance, Ms Sendagire was on maternity leave.
