Museveni passes out 299 officer cadets

  • Mr Museveni told the new officer cadets to be extremely disciplined and not engage in heinous practices, adding that it is discipline that has enabled the army stay and play a leading role in pacifying Somalia.

MUBENDE. President Museveni, who is also Commander-in-Chief of armed forces has praised UPDF leadership for adopting effective methods of training young officers within the army as officer cadets.

The President made the remarks on Friday October 7 at the Uganda Military academy in Kabamba, Mubende District during the pass-out of 299 officer cadets who had successfully completed a one-year special training course.

“I am glad that UPDF is no longer getting fresh recruits to train as cadets but it is training its own staff to upgrade, I think this is a good move that is going to encourage the young officers,” said President Museveni.

They are now entrusted with leadership responsibilities at various levels in the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF).
