LUWERO. The Nnabagereka Sylvia Nagginda has advised children to embrace civility and be good ambassadors of hard work and discipline in their respective communities.

While addressing more than 500 children who are attending the 11th Ekisaakaate at St Janan Secondary School in Luweero District on Wednesday, the Nnabagereka urged participants not to be selfish with the life skills and knowledge acquired at the two -weeks camp, but share it with children who could not attend and ensure that the gospel of good behaviour, hard work and self-discipline spreads to all children.

“We are very sure that most of you are very changed children now. You are now the ambassadors of discipline and hard work. Many of you have confessed that you ahave been equipped with all the basic life skills, honesty and have respect for elders and your fellow children. This should not end here,” Ms Nagginda said
Ekisaakaate is a Luganda word used to refer to a royal enclosure where children are taken to learn ganda culture and innovations as well as nurturing their talents.

This annual youth camp is organised by the Nnabagereka Foundation and Buganda Kingdom. It usually attracts children between six to 18 years.

The Nnabagereka proposed that some of the disciplines taught during the Ekisaakaate be incorporated in the national school curriculum, to enable the country build a strong and disciplined foundation for the future.

“We have children out there who do not want to brush their teeth, lay their respective beds and have no respect for the elder persons. We all know the dangers that come with people who are dirty and careless with their own lives. You children should be able to live a disciplined life.” She added

Ms Maroushka Kanywani, the communication consultant attached to the office of the Nnabagereka, said they normally receive positive feedback from parents who acknowledge the importance of the Ekisaakaate. Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II is expected to close the Ekisaakaate on January 15.
