Ntare School in Mbarara district located in South-western Uganda has been closed following a student’s strike early on Tuesday evening. Details of what sparked off the strike are still scanty but school authorities asked parents to take their children home.

The early closure of the school term means the students may not sit end of first term exams.

The strike at Ntare comes a day after two similar strikes at Bubaare Secondary School in Kabale District which resulted in the death of a student shot by a police officer as they tried to disperse the striking students.

Another strike at Kiira College Butiiki in Jinja also led to the closure of that school.

Details of this story coming shortly.
