Ntoroko district chairperson dies
The Ntoroko District chairperson, Timothy Kyamanywa has died days after he was airlifted to Kampala for treatment.
The district information officer, Mr Ibrahim Sahula Baluku, said on Saturday that Kyamanywa died at Nsambya hospital in Kampala where he was rushed on December 24.
The cause of his death is yet to be established.
“He was airlifted by a UPDF helicopter to Kampala for treatment while in critical condition on Tuesday. He died at Nsambya hospital. We are getting in touch with his family and we are yet to establish the exact cause of his death,” Mr Baluku said.
The Ntoroko District became operational on 1 July 2010 after breaking away from Bundibugyo.
The Bundibugyo District chairperson, Mr Ronald Mutegeki, said Kyamanywa’s death is a big loss to the entire Rwenzori region and the country at large.
“He has been a great leader, not only for Ntoroko District but also the entire Rwenzori region and the country at large,” Mr Mutegeki said.
