Opposition Chief Whip loses parliament seat

FDC’s Winfred Kizza, and the opposition Chief Whip in parliament, has been stripped of her parliament seat. Ms Kizza was the Kasese District Woman MP.

The Court of Appeal ruled this morning that over 6000 votes were wrongfully invalidated by the Electoral Commission in the 2011 polls, which substantially affected the outcome of the election. The Court ordered the commission to compensate the petitioner, Rehema Muhindo, and to also hold fresh elections.
