Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire said a search was conducted at the home of the suspect in order to find any possible clues regarding the ownership of the murder weapon.

Upon search at his home in Kawempe, detectives were able to recover licence documents of the pistol found in his possession confirming ownership since he had acquired it through the formal channels.

In a verbal confession, the suspect admitted to having shot his wife but accidentally.

The suspect said the shooting was as a result of a scuffle with a group of youth the late wife had called in to be on standby as the both families met over their marital misunderstandings.

The suspect told Police that misunderstandings originated from the theft of Shs300 million by his late wife while he was abroad on a business trip in Egypt.

Upon his return from Egypt, the suspect discovered that all his bank accounts had been wiped clean and the wife couldn't account for the missing monies.

Ever since he committed the crime, the suspect was advised by his close friends to go into hiding at his ancestral home in Kamengo, Rakai District.
