Police holds two artistes for allegedly clobbering colleague into coma
Police in Gulu is holding two local artistes for reasons yet to be disclosed.
The two; Lucky Bosmic Otim, the president of Nile Republic Music Crew, and another only identified as Maria. A, were arrested on Tuesday.
Mr Patrick Jimmy Okema, the Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson, confirmed the incident but didn't state the reason for their arrest.
James Asubu, the Officer in Charge of Crimes at Gulu Central Police Station also declined to comment on the arrest of the artistes.
Mr Martin Okoyo, the Gulu District Police Commander, said that they will present more details on the arrest of the artistes in due course. The arrest of the duo comes days following the recovery of Denis Okello alias 2Pee from a comma on Friday last week.
Okello, who works with Vision Group's Radio Rupiny, slipped into coma after being attacked on his way home. He sustained three deep cuts on the head. The attack was blamed on iron bar hit men wreaking havoc in Gulu Town ahead of the Christmas season.
According to Mr Okema, the iron bar hit men have since injured two other residents, adding that they have picked up several suspects to help in investigations.
Lucky Bosmic Otim started his musical career in high school and gained fame with his songs on the brutality of the Lord's Resistance Army conflict in Northern Uganda, HIV/AIDS, politics and weddings. He also played a song in tribute to the former President, Dr. Apollo Milton Obote.
