Police officer knocked dead in Sheema

A police officer attached to Sheema Central Police station in Sheema District was on August 12 knocked dead by a speeding motor vehicle.
The accident took place in Kabwohe town in Sheema Municipality at around 12:30pm when a speeding vehicle knocked AIP Micheal PK Rutemba, 54, and died on spot.
"The speeding vehicle knocked our officer dead, the deceased was the station major, who was in charge of organising other police officers in their focus to perform their duties. He was knocked by a vehicle registration number UBH775M Toyota Fielder silver in colour driven by Kamugisha Benson, 40, of Nangabo-Kasangati-Wakiso District heading to Bushenyi direction from Mbarara along Mbarara Kasese highway, " said Mr Marcial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi Police Spokesparson.
He added " AIP Rutemba while riding a motor cycle registration number UEN 665T Bajaj boxer from opposite direction and trying to join the road then had head on collusion and died on spot,".
The body is still at Kabwohe Health Center IV mortuary pending postmortem and transportion postmortem. The suspect is at Kabwohe central police station and he will be charged of recklessness driving.
AIP Rutemba Micheal who hails from Kanungu District is one of the newly promoted police officers from the rank of Sergent to Assistant Inspector of Police after joining the force in 1991.
